2024 Year In Review - Trusting the Process
If you’re new here, welcome! Every year, I write a Year in Review blog. It’s one of the most vulnerable and transparent things I share, a snapshot of my year—challenges, wins, and lessons learned that could add value to your life or leadership. So, if you’d like to get to know me better or catch up on what I’ve been up to (and what’s ahead), grab a cozy spot, and let’s chat. Here we go: 2024—A Year in Review.
A Look Back with Gratitude
During the last quarter of each year, I tend to feel nostalgic. I reflect on the progress of Conduit International, the connections we’ve built, and the evolution of my tribe. I also ask myself: Where have I grown? Did my word of the year play out? What am I dreaming and hoping for next year?
But before we dive in, I want to say thank you. Whether you’re a client, collaborator, sponsor, friend, or simply curious—thank you for being here. Your support means the world to me.
This review is packed with updates, lessons, and gifts (watch for the pink highlights!). I hope something here inspires or resonates with you as you reflect on your own year.
2024 Top 5 Goals Recap
Every year, I share five goals to guide my work and life. Here’s what I aimed to do in 2024—and how it played out:
- Host the Assemble the Tribe Book Club.
- Launch The Tribe Advantage leadership coaching program.
- Release my new book.
- Host quarterly Bermuda networking events.
- Take quarterly MEcations (vacation/strategic planning/writing retreats).
What Went Well (and What I Learned)
- The Tribe Advantage 2024: This year, The Tribe Advantage expanded to include more small group coaching, thanks to our incredible collaborators like Coach Camille Trott and Wellness Lab leader Dr. Kelly Holder. We connected deeply and even combined cohorts for larger networking opportunities. What I Learned: Success isn’t just about reaching goals—it’s about creating meaningful, transformative experiences. Whether you’re leading a team or mentoring others, always ask: How can I make this moment more impactful?
- Collaborating Creatively with Clients and My Tribe: What a year! Through corporate, networking, and faith-based events, as well as speaking engagements, we directly impacted over 1,000 women, leaders, and employees. What I Learned: Collaboration is a multiplier. When you invest in others, you create ripple effects far beyond what you can imagine.
- Speaking & Networking Events: From leadership workshops to International Women’s Day panels, each event was a joy. My favorite? Interviewing my dad about his cancer journey—moving from "six months to live" to thriving. What I Learned: Stories heal. Sharing your journey can inspire resilience and hope in others. What story of yours might help someone else?
- A Fresh Perspective: This year, we refreshed the Conduit International Ltd branding messaging to better reflect our mission: to be a conduit for positive change. Before the end of the year, the changes will be complete, and you can take a peek at www.leahjmdean.com. I'll let you know when we are live. What I Learned: Clarity comes with time. Whether it's branding, relationships, or personal goals, you are always evolving, and that's ok. What areas of your life could use a little clarity?
What Could Have Gone Better (and How I Grew)
- Book Club: The ten-week Assemble the Tribe book club was wonderful but, in hindsight, maybe a tad too long for the average busy woman. What I Learned: Less is more. Simplicity can make an experience more accessible and enjoyable for others.
- Book Launch: 2024 wasn’t the year for my second book’s release, but the delay brought unexpected blessings. I believe that all things work together for good and God does all things well. So in the end, everything is at it should be. The book is now in final layout, and I can’t wait to share it in 2025. What I Learned: Trust the process and trust the timing. When things don’t go as planned, it’s often because there’s a better season ahead.
- Health & Wellness: Between personal and family illnesses, relentless perimenopause, and sleep struggles, this year tested me. However as now admitted workaholic, the journey to build new habits that heal, will be well worth it in the future. What I Learned: Even though we tend to ignore it, self-care isn’t optional. If you’re struggling, ask yourself: What’s one small thing I can do to nurture myself today?
Pay It Forward
Giving back remains at the heart of Conduit International. This year, we donated time, services, and scholarships and mentored rising leaders and career seekers. What I Believe: Generosity isn’t about how much you give but the heart behind it. You never know how one moment can impact a life. Where can you create a moment of kindness today?
Looking Ahead: 2025 Goals
- Word of the year: Raphah - it mean's Still. Still not sure how this is going to work!
- Launch my new book, Be Different & enjoy the process.
- Serve clients with creative solutions.
- Invest in my health and wellness.
